31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 31

Opening weekend! Come on down to the BBH, black bottom hole!

Leave the little monsters at home and join us for a splashing good time!

Guaranteed to melt the flesh from your bones! (bathing suits must be worn at all times)

Buddy, get out of the hole and put some gear on - no one wants to see that!

First 10 ghouls will receive a floating toy of their choice.

Safety is a priority here at the BBH, our coffin ladder is closed and locked up each day so the little monsters can't pee in the hole.

I would like to thank all those who have stopped to peek or leave a comment.  This is such a fun event but exhausting and your comments offer encouragement to keep going.  We've finished the month and made it out alive!! Now I can get caught up on sleep and catch up with my family who I have ignored for the month.

31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 30

A big toothy grin to me has always meant "I've been up to trouble and I hope you don't find out".

What do you think it means when you see these goofy grins?

Ebony and Ivory
The weirdest things go through my head while crafting ~ I don't even like this song !!

What should the caption read under this image?

1.  Did you hear the one about...
2.  I see you're on the air only diet too.
3.  And then he said...
4.  Do you come here often?
5.  Can I ask who bleaches your bones?
6.  You have such a beautiful bone structure.
7.  The doctor said he wanted to do a bone density scan and I asked him if he was blind.
8.  They promised the pounds would melt off but really this is extreme.

31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 27

If a skull is purple and grins at you does that make it pretty or it still spooky by nature?

Skull was stamped on white cardstock, cut to fit the pendant and edged with the same ink colour.  The image was coerced to sit flat in the pendant shape, sprinkled with diamond dust and covered with glossy accents.  Never one to leave things alone, I added more diamond dust. The pendant was set aside to dry overnight and voila!

Now, I don't believe in the philosphy "less is more" but I should have in the case of the diamond dust on this project.

But isn't it sparkly?

It's so hard for Dracula's daughter to get any attention from the boys with dear old Dad hovering. (yes, that's him in the top left).  She has taken to hanging out in the local graveyard hoping to meet one of the Winchester boys.  She can have Sam, Dean's all mine!

31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 24

Do you hear that?  Loud yelling and screaming can be heard within the ring of exhibits and attractions at the visiting Carnivale duMorte.  "What is that infernal racket?" mutters Ralph, the security guard, on his way to investigate.

Following the sound of screeches that sound like a little girl (or my brother) Ralph identifies the source of the disturbance.  Damn, it's a screamin' MeMe!  Ralph phones the creature's therapist for an immediate consultation.

After the therapist has calmed the agitated monster she returns to enlighten Ralph.  "MeMe's regular manicurist, Gigi, was ill and the substitute misunderstood his instructions, and painted his nails black.
BLACK!   Gigi only uses black polish during the month of December."

The security guard returns to his shack and the therapist wanders back to her trailer.

In the background we can hear MeMe muttering as he works to remove the black nail polish.

Green, green is the colour of Halloween.

You remind me of the babe
What babe? babe with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the babe

lyrics from David Bowie "Magic Dance"

I had this song bouncing around in my head while making this card.  If you had a voodoo doll and could use it for good or evil which would you choose?

31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 22

With a vision and some imagination this sad, depressing and dreary laundry room ......

became this gorgeous red and black laundry room. With new paint, a new window, and some plaster repair..... okay, and a new washer and dryer. (to replace the dead 30 year old set which weighed a ton according to the delivery guys who took them away).

The sad laundry room had these padded hangers (Boring!)
which would not and could not stay in the new laundry room.

I give you today's project ~ altered clothes hangers !!

The dancing skeleton on the tag is from the $1.50 Michael's bin.  The image was stamped with black Staz-On onto an oval cut piece of frosted shrinky dink plastic. Holes were punched at the top of the oval,  shrunk in the oven, and then sewn on with thread.

During a trip to Florida to visit my snow bird parents I found the perfect fabric for this project. ("snow birds" as used here means those folks in Canada who migrate to the USA to avoid the cold winter season).

The blue fabric on the old hangers was removed carefully so the pieces could be used as the template for the new fabric.

Interfacing was sewn to the dancing skeleton fabric in a grid pattern.  The Skellie fabric was cut using the templates and sewn together by machine. Next, the fabric sleeves were shoved over the foam and the two sides sewn together.  Some grosgrain ribbon and a tag finished off this project.  (And my Dad thought I was crazy when I told him what I was going to do.)

Now, which one looks better to you?

31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 19

This memorial plaque for Captain Jack Cardinal (not to be confused with our beloved Captain Jack Sparrow) was commissioned by his paramour Ruby Licious.  She requested that her pirate's favourite colours of red and black be used exclusively. I hope this canvas meets her desires and she will promptly deliver a sizeable quantity of gold dubloons.  Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

This canvas started out with orange, copper and bronze paint with a stencil. That's when I got stuck and painted over the thing with black. Now this canvas feels more like me.

Polka dots and spiders go together don't they?
A quick note, I use the deckle edge scissors because I can not cut a straight line. (even with a slicer!)

This "bat" effect was not intentional, but it looks good.

31 Days of Halloween 2014 - Day 17

It's a dark, creepy and thrilling night.  Grumpy has been hanging out with the crows and bats at the local cemetery, hiding from those teenagers with their ouija board.

The easel card is propped up with a metal embellishment "BOO".  Two of our local graveyard residents  have risen to visit with Grumpy.
